Who's behind this venture, and what is its origin story?
The idea was birthed from a business needing data for an economic impact report, and direct data collection was a critical component for the undertaking.
However, knowing that people don't like engaging with surveys meant this would be tricky. Many ideas were floated for how to incentivise responses (such as putting people into the draw to win something; giving warm fuzzies; talking about the benefit of the survey output) but they all fell flat.
Give a Minute was created as a trial, after 6 weeks of an in-person survey collection had delivered slim and dry results. A single non-boosted Facebook post of the concept went live at 7pm and only two hours later the company had received too many responses and needed to take it down. They were blown away, and hadn't seen anything like it, and the charity were able to collect a cheque for helping spread the word.
Since then we have continued to trial the concept with willing partners - with exceptional results - so we've opened it up to benefit more organisations.
Hi and nice to meet you! This is the team you'll interact with behind the scenes. We work very hard to provide an awesome experience for you and look forward to supporting you in whatever ways we can!
Matt set up his first company in 2013 by outsourcing to an agency - and it nearly cost him his life savings. He resolved to not only learn building the tech himself, but also to help others who want to launch their own companies.
He's since founded and sold two businesses, and has created Give a Minute to help charities expand the impact they have on the world.
What would we do without her? Currently completing her MBA, she's the one who keeps things organised and projects (and us!) in-line.
Based in New Zealand, she has two kids and lives near the world-famous Redwood Forest, and the beautiful Blue, Green and Okareka lakes.
Chris spent 10 years with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, touring around the country and the world on stage.
When an injury ended his career he stepped away into hospitality and tech, and is always learning and finding innovative solutions to problems.
